Tailor your resume to one job post in 15 minutes

Same experience. Told in the language of the job you want.

The problem

You send the same resume to every job and hear nothing back. It's not that your experience is wrong. It's written for the last job, not this one. As someone who has sat on the hiring side: we skim for the words in our own job post. Give them those words, honestly.

What you need

  • Your current resume (PDF or Word)
  • One job post you actually want, copied in full
  • 15 minutes
  • The free Claude plan works

What's new

  • Sep 16, 2026 On Pro and up, you can ask for the final resume as a Claude Doc (beta) and write it together with Claude, instead of copying versions back and forth. (Anthropic)

Steps

  1. Open a new chat on claude.ai. Click + in the lower left of the chat box, then Add files or photos, and upload your resume.
  2. Copy the prompt below, paste the full job post where it says [PASTE THE JOB POST], and send.
  3. Answer the questions Claude asks. It will ask about anything it can't prove from your resume.
  4. Read the rewritten bullets out loud. If one doesn't sound true, say so: "That overstates it. I helped, I didn't lead."
  5. Copy the final version into your resume file and save it with the company name.

The prompt

Fill in the [BRACKETS], then paste it into Claude
I'm applying for the job below. My resume is attached.

1. List the 5 skills or requirements this job post cares about most, in their words.
2. For each one, show me where my resume already proves it, or say "not shown yet."
3. Rewrite my summary and my top 6 bullets so they use the job post's language, lead with results, and stay 100% true. Format: what I did + how + the result.
4. Do NOT invent numbers, titles, tools or experience. If a bullet would be stronger with a number, ask me for it.
5. End with the 3 questions an interviewer is most likely to ask me about this resume.

Job post:
[PASTE THE JOB POST]

What it looks like filled in

A front-desk manager applying for a customer success role. Her old bullet:

Handled guest complaints and front desk operations.

Claude asked: "About how many guests a day, and did any complaint process you changed stick?" She answered, and the new bullet became:

Claude

Resolved guest issues for a 120-room property and created a same-day follow-up checklist the whole team still uses.

Same job, same truth, in the language of customer success.

Takeaway

Don't make AI write a new you. Make it translate the real you into their words, and let it ask you for the proof.

Which job post are you saving right now? What's the one requirement you're scared you don't meet?
