Your Claude Project in 8 minutes

Stop explaining your business to AI every single time.

The problem

You open Claude. You type your prices. Again. You explain who you serve. Again. By the time it knows enough to help, your coffee's cold and the kids are home. A Project fixes that: you write your business down once, and every chat inside it already knows.

What you need

  • A computer with claude.ai open (the free plan works)
  • Your real prices, with payment plans and discounts (yes or no)
  • One sentence you wrote to a client that you liked
  • 8 minutes

What's new

  • Aug 25, 2026 Claude's memory (on by default, Free included) now carries what it learns about you between chats, and you can read or fix it under Settings > Memory. Your Project is still the place for prices and rules you never want guessed. (Anthropic)
  • Sep 17, 2026 Projects are being redesigned, starting in Claude Code. Existing projects keep working as they do today. If a button in this guide moves, that's why. (Anthropic)

Steps

  1. On claude.ai, click Projects in the left sidebar (or go to claude.ai/projects).
  2. Click + New Project. Name it after your business. The description is just for you: Claude can't see the name or description, so your details go in the next step.
  3. Inside the Project, click Set project instructions. Copy the prompt below, fill in the brackets, paste it in.
  4. Click Save instructions.
  5. Start a new chat from the Project page and type: "What do you know about my business? Tell me in 3 lines." If it answers with your prices, you're set.

HOW I TALK: [HOW YOU SOUND IN ONE LINE] Example of mine: "[ONE REAL SENTENCE OF YOURS]"
NEVER: [2 OR 3 RULES]. Never send, delete or change anything without showing me first.
If you're missing a detail about me, ask. Don't make it up.

What it looks like filled in

Primer Paso Coaching, a coach for women opening their first business:

WHO I SERVE: Latinas opening their first business: salon, home bakery, cleaning. MY OFFERS AND PRICES: Single session $150. 5-session package $600. Payment plan: yes, 2 payments of $300. Discounts: no. HOW I TALK: Direct and warm, short sentences, number first.

Her test answer: "You coach Latinas opening their first business. Session $150, package $600 in 2 payments, no discounts. You talk direct and give the number first."

Takeaway

Write it once, stop repeating yourself. The line "don't make it up" is the most important one in the box.
